Celtic supporters will be permitted to attend the second leg of their Champions League play-off against Bayern Munich after receiving a favourable ruling from UEFA.
The Scottish champions were concerned that fans might be barred from the match following an incident where a green smoke bomb was thrown onto the pitch by visiting supporters during Celtic’s 4-2 loss to Aston Villa last month.
Previously, Celtic had been given a suspended one-match ban on the sale of tickets to travelling fans due to a pyrotechnic incident during their 7-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in September.
However, they have now been slapped with a fine of €10,000 (£8,340) for the use of fireworks and the throwing of objects.
“As we stated earlier, Celtic did everything possible to ensure that our fans could attend this match, and we are delighted that UEFA has taken our comprehensive submission into account,” Celtic remarked in a statement.
“We must also remind everyone that the original suspended sentence still stands, stemming from the earlier use of pyrotechnics, most recently during the match against Borussia Dortmund by a small minority of fans.
“We must be abundantly clear that pyrotechnics have no place at our games, and should any further incidents arise, there is a significant risk that our supporters could be denied access to future matches.”
