South Sydney centre Campbell Graham has confessed to feeling a touch of nerves as he made his much-anticipated return to rugby league on Friday night.
After undergoing surgery on his sternum to alleviate ongoing pain linked to an injury from the previous year, Graham hadn’t played for the Rabbitohs since 2023.
Although his return was initially slated for last season, he unfortunately didn’t feature in any matches, with the Rabbitohs opting for a cautious approach regarding his recovery.

Graham was able to resume full-contact training last November, but a hand injury during the pre-season threatened to hinder his comeback.
The 25-year-old played a pivotal role in the Rabbitohs’ narrow 16-14 victory over the Dolphins, amassing three offloads and racking up 201 running metres during his 80 minutes on the field.
“It feels unreal,” Graham expressed to Nine’s Emma Lawrence about his return to top-tier football.
“I’ve missed it immensely.”

After being sidelined for 553 days, Graham felt thankful to don the red and green jersey once again.
“I was nervous, but that was eclipsed by the excitement and deep appreciation I felt,” he said.

“To step out here and play with my mates for my club in front of my supporters is something I’m truly grateful for.
“It’s an incredible feeling to score the win as well.”
Graham, who began the game at centre before switching to the wing, delivered some hefty tackles that he acknowledged would take a toll on his physique.
“I expect to be sore tomorrow. It’s been a long time since I’ve played, so I’ll definitely feel it, but winning takes the edge off the pain.”
Prior to his lengthy injury layoff, Graham was on the brink of being selected for the NSW Blues in the State of Origin.
Since making his first-grade debut in 2017, he has tallied 64 tries over 131 appearances for the Rabbitohs.
Next Saturday, the Rabbitohs will face off against the Dragons in Wollongong.
