According to the MRP, the card was issued for “Denying the opposing team an obvious goal-scoring opportunity, as set out in Law 12 of the Laws of the Game”. Consequently, Sardo will miss the upcoming match against Canberra United in Tarneit, returning to the lineup for the challenge against Newcastle Jets on March 30.
In addition, the MRP has announced suspensions for Central Coast Mariners’ Shadeene Evans and Newcastle Jets’ Sheridan Gallagher.

Evans was shown a second yellow card and sent off in Central Coast’s 1-0 defeat to Adelaide United on Saturday. She will also miss the upcoming game against Perth Glory due to the mandatory one-match suspension.
Gallagher, meanwhile, will serve a one-match suspension for receiving her eighth yellow card of the season. She was cautioned during Newcastle’s 1-0 victory over reigning champions Sydney FC last Saturday. Gallagher will be eligible to return for the match against Melbourne Victory following her absence this week against Brisbane Roar.
