A cheeky remark from Cameron Munster’s wife is said to have motivated the Melbourne star to shed six kilograms during the NRL off-season.
The experienced five-eighth showcased his brilliant form on Sunday as the Storm achieved a remarkable 56-18 victory over Parramatta in scorching temperatures at AAMI Park.
Following the match, Munster shared the details of his impressive weight loss journey.
“It’s fantastic, 33-degree heat in Melbourne, could it get any better?” Munster remarked to Nine’s Ruan Sims.
“Losing six kilos really makes a difference… I had a solid pre-season, which doesn’t always happen.”

Last season, Munster dealt with a significant groin injury, limiting him to just 17 matches as the Storm fell narrowly short of clinching the premiership.
Coach Craig Bellamy had a heart-to-heart with the representative superstar, suggesting that a reduction in weight might be beneficial.
However, it seems a playful comment from his wife, Bianca, truly motivated the playmaker to take action.

“We had a discussion about various matters, but I certainly didn’t tell him he had to ‘lose weight’,” Bellamy explained to the media after Sunday’s game.
“His partner Bianca might have added fuel to the fire… I’m not entirely sure, but I believe she may have said something like ‘you’ll never do that.’ And that seems to have spurred him on.
“I think it’s done wonders for him. He’s in much better shape, allowing him to contribute more, and the more he plays, the better we’ll be.
“He was fully committed throughout the pre-season, and being a few kilos lighter has certainly shown benefits. I don’t think he’s lost any strength, and his speed is still intact—though he didn’t have much to spare in that department anyway.
“He really dominated the game today, and I believe that shedding a couple of kilos has greatly assisted him in achieving that.”
Melbourne now enjoys a bye in round two before facing Penrith in a rematch of the grand final in the following round.
