AC Milan’s head coach, Sergio Conceicao, conceded that the mounting pressure on him is becoming increasingly evident following their defeat to Bologna in Serie A on Thursday. However, he remains committed to working with unwavering dedication unless the club chooses to make a different decision.
Milan’s campaign is teetering on the edge after their exit from the Champions League and back-to-back losses in Serie A, leaving them languishing in eighth place—eight points adrift of Juventus, who occupy the final top-four position with just 12 matches remaining.
In their match against Bologna, Milan squandered a one-goal lead and ultimately fell 2-1.
“The situation is entirely in our control. If the club determines that I’m not the right person to lead Milan, I will gladly step aside, but until that decision is made, I will work with the same passion as always,” Conceicao expressed to the media.
“I am feeling quite frustrated because the results are simply not materialising. However, I believe it’s a common sentiment for a coach who is genuinely passionate about their work.
“It feels as though there’s a shadow hanging over Milan that we need to dispel through our performance, as results are what ultimately define success.”
Conceicao has also voiced his belief that the recent media scrutiny directed at him is unwarranted.
“If I’m no longer valued here, I’ll gather my things and depart without expecting a single euro,” he stated. “I have nearly 100 Champions League matches under my belt and have secured 13 trophies. Yet, criticism continues, and it affects my family and neighbours—it just isn’t fair.”
Milan will take on Lazio in their next Serie A fixture on Sunday.
