Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has expressed his belief that he is currently enjoying the finest season of his professional career, not just excelling individually but also elevating the performance of his teammates. The Premier League’s top scorer shared these insights on Wednesday.
At 32 years of age, Salah has netted 25 goals and assisted on 16 occasions, playing a pivotal role in propelling Liverpool to the summit of the Premier League, where they hold an 11-point lead over second-placed Arsenal.
“I truly believe this is my best season, as I’m not only performing well myself but also helping my teammates excel,” Salah stated during an interview with TNT Sports.
“I feel very fit and focused, and my aim is not just to enhance my own game but to support those around me in improving theirs as well,” he continued.
“It’s all part of development. You want everyone to perform well because no one wins the league by themselves; it’s essential for other players to contribute too.”
Salah noted that his own exceptional form is having a positive impact on his colleagues’ performances.
“When you look at the statistics, you’ll see that everyone’s numbers are better than in previous seasons. My assist tally is up, which shows I’m playing a key role in their success,” he explained.
“Players like Cody (Gakpo) and Lucho (Luis Diaz) are having career-best seasons, so I feel this is my best season due to the way I’m helping those around me.”
As a contender for the Ballon d’Or, Salah acknowledged that achieving success with Liverpool might not be sufficient to secure the prestigious award.
“Let’s focus on winning the Premier League and the Champions League first, then we can discuss the Ballon d’Or,” he said.
“Everyone knows there are often other factors at play in that decision.”
