Former AFL player Tarryn Thomas, who has faced disgrace, has touched down in Perth in a bid to reignite his football career.
WAFL club Swan Districts is offering the ex-North Melbourne player an opportunity to redeem himself through a two-week trial, a year on from his expulsion from the AFL due to intimidating and threatening women.
This month, the AFL approved Thomas’s participation in state-league competitions, with VFL club Northern Bullants showing initial interest. However, they ultimately decided not to extend an offer to him on Monday.
Upon his arrival in Western Australia the following day, Thomas opted to remain silent at Perth Airport, avoiding inquiries from the media.

The AFL has stated that the former Kangaroo has shown signs of improvement following the completion of a behavioural change programme, thereby opening the door for his possible return.
Swan Districts, which also fields a women’s team, has emphasised a strict zero-tolerance policy for the 24-year-old and will assess Thomas’s commitment to change over the next two weeks before deciding on a contract for the WAFL season.
