Cameron Bancroft is on the verge of making his comeback after battling a shoulder injury sustained during the Big Bash season.
The former Test opener was involved in a horrifying clash with teammate Daniel Sams, which ultimately sidelined both players for the remainder of the BBL|14 season.
Bancroft endured fractures to both his shoulder and nose during the collision and is still working towards his return, while Sams, who suffered a concussion, is back on the field.

In encouraging news, Bancroft has been appointed as the new captain of Gloucestershire for the English County season and is on the brink of a return to play.
He is anticipated to feature for Western Australia next month in the Sheffield Shield before heading overseas for the UK summer.
“The shoulder’s coming along well,” he shared on the County team’s website.
“There was certainly some trauma to deal with, and I’m managing it.”
“I am picking up some insights from experiences of other players.”
“Healing takes time… I’m getting very close and I’m eager to get back on the field in early March.”
The 32-year-old was in contention for a Test recall a few months prior, but his recent injury has seen him slip in the Australian selection hierarchy.

Bancroft featured in the 2024 season with Gloucestershire, and while the results were not in their favour, he remains optimistic about a turnaround this year.
“We gained valuable insights from last season,” he remarked.
“We’ll leverage those lessons while focusing on our strengths and what we excel at.”
“If we can achieve that, we’ll become a challenging and competitive side.”
