Clint Gutherson didn’t hesitate to part ways with his Parramatta Eels attire after linking up with the Dragons – and nor did his mother.
The fullback made the switch to St George Illawarra at the end of the previous season upon learning that his contract with the Eels would not be renewed past 2025.
After a tumultuous nine years sporting the blue and gold, Gutherson confessed that he moved on from his Eels departure surprisingly swiftly.

However, the 30-year-old light-heartedly remarked that his feelings about the exit were somewhat different from those of his friends and family, particularly regarding letting go of his Parramatta gear.
“I have plenty of mates always keen for gear, so it was easy enough to offload … packed it up and sent it to them,” he shared with SEN Breakfast.
“My mum, on the other hand, burned all her [Eels gear].
“It was pretty straightforward to get rid of it.”
All attention was on the Dragons’ new signings during the pre-season trials, as Gutherson sported the Red V for the first time alongside Val Holmes, Lachlan Ilias, and Emre Guler.
The 30-year-old confessed that donning the new colours initially felt “a bit strange”, yet he has since grown fond of them.

“The initial days felt quite strange putting on the different colours, but I really love it now,” reflected Gutherson.
“As mentioned, you adapt pretty quickly.
“Rugby league is a unique sport; you step into a new atmosphere and bond with the lads quickly.
“It’s been fantastic. I’m thoroughly enjoying it thus far and eager to wear the jersey for real.
“Sure, everything came to a close last year, but you manage to handle it quite rapidly. I’m an easy-going bloke who simply wants to play footy and enjoy every moment.”
