On Sunday, Benfica announced that both Alexander Bah and Manu Silva have suffered serious anterior cruciate ligament injuries during Saturday’s encounter with Moreirense, ruling them out for the remainder of the season.
Although Benfica clinched a 3-2 victory over Moreirense, the win came at a substantial cost to manager Bruno Lage and his squad.
In their official statement, Benfica disclosed that both Bah and Silva have endured complete ruptures of the anterior cruciate ligament in their left knees, sidelining them for the rest of the campaign.
Bah was substituted in the 34th minute, and just three minutes later, Manu Silva, who joined during the winter transfer window, sustained similar damage. Medical tests later confirmed it as a “left knee sprain with complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament.”
As a result, both players will be absent from the team for Wednesday’s Champions League fixture against AS Monaco.
