PSV Eindhoven have secured a loan deal for Dutch defender Tyrell Malacia (25) from Premier League club Manchester United for the remainder of the season, as confirmed by both clubs on Tuesday. The Dutchman is looking forward to his return to his homeland.
Malacia made the switch to United from Feyenoord in 2022, in a transfer reported to be valued at around 13 million pounds ($15.56 million), with an additional 1.7 million pounds in potential add-ons.
During his first season, the 25-year-old featured in 22 Premier League matches but was sidelined for the whole of the 2023-24 season due to a knee injury.
“I’m delighted to be here. It feels great to be playing good football again. After a long injury layoff, I’m now fit and ready for my chance to shine again,” Malacia expressed in a statement.
“Even during the tough times, there are positives to take away, and in this case I’ve emerged much stronger both physically and mentally. I’ve developed more patience, I am more mature, and I have a better understanding of my body and its needs.”
Currently, PSV are at the top of the Eredivisie standings, boasting 50 points from 21 matches, two points clear of Ajax, who have a game in hand.
