Heading into the final quarter, the score stood at 50-42 before the Diamonds remained steady to secure a comfortable victory.
Kiera Austin was named player of the match, achieving 24 goals from 29 attempts and providing 15 assists.
Her captain, Liz Watson, offered high praise for Austin’s performance post-match.
“I think her entire season has built up really nicely,” she expressed on Fox Netball.
“… She’s a fantastic defensive player for us too, so having a goal attack who can get intercepts and tips is invaluable.
“She’s been phenomenal, and I’ve witnessed all the hard work she puts in.”
England coach Jess Thirlby commented that the result would be “challenging” to reflect upon.
“We struggled to secure enough possession and were a bit careless with turnovers,” she noted.
“There were some positives, but it felt like we were searching for answers towards the end.”
Next, the Diamonds will travel to New Zealand to face the Silver Ferns in the Constellation Cup.
