Ruben Amorim has remarked that the “energy is different” at Manchester United following a recent surge in form but acknowledges that their confidence remains delicate as they gear up for a return to play after the international break.
The Red Devils, currently sitting in 13th position in the Premier League, face a daunting away clash against high-flying Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, trailing the top four by 12 points with only nine matches left to play.
Despite their league standing, United are unbeaten in their last seven fixtures across all competitions, although they did bow out of the FA Cup on penalties to Fulham during this run.
Amorim, whose squad is beginning to recover from an injury crisis, was queried on Monday regarding his team’s ability to continue their positive momentum following the international break.
“I’m feeling really confident. I can sense that the players are more self-assured, and the energy is definitely different,” said the Portuguese manager, who took the reins at Old Trafford in November.
“However, I am aware that this could easily shift depending on our results. Hence, we are concentrating on sustaining this energy. We’ve been working on several areas that need considerable improvement.
“Even with our recent victories, it’s clear we still have much to work on. Nonetheless, we’re in a different phase, feeling more confident and ready for the final stretch of the season.”
United’s April schedule features seven matches, including a pivotal Europa League quarter-final against Lyon, alongside challenging Premier League encounters with both Manchester City and Newcastle.
Defenders Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro have returned to fitness, and Amorim confirmed that Ayden Heaven’s injury is not as severe as initially feared.
“Having all players available is crucial for us to rotate during matches and to have them fighting for their spots,” stated the United boss. “Different skill sets allow us a range of strategies to secure victories.”
“I genuinely believe this is a promising moment in our season. We understand that at least three upcoming matches in the Premier League will be particularly challenging, but I am confident the team is prepared to tackle them.”
