Formula 1 – Miami
Oscar Piastri has claimed victory at the Miami Grand Prix, marking his sixth win in Formula 1 and making him the first McLaren driver to secure three consecutive Grand Prix victories since Mika Hakkinen achieved the feat in the late 1990s.
The Miami Grand Prix weekend featured both a Sprint Race and the main Grand Prix, with Piastri earning a substantial total of 32 points across the entire event.
In a thrilling and wet Sprint Race on Saturday, Piastri seized the lead from Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli at the first turn of the opening lap, successfully maintaining a comfortable advantage over teammate Lando Norris.
After a close battle, Norris ultimately triumphed in the Sprint, with Piastri finishing just over six-tenths of a second behind him.
On Sunday, fortune favoured the Australian as he started the main race in fourth position and quickly moved into contention behind race leader Max Verstappen.
Piastri then overtook Verstappen, with Norris closely trailing him, and together they created a significant gap from the pack behind them.
Demonstrating impressive speed, the Australian crossed the finish line four seconds behind Norris, further solidifying his lead in the drivers’ standings.
McLaren celebrated another 1-2 finish in 2025, marking their second consecutive victory at the Miami Grand Prix.
In contrast, Queensland’s Jack Doohan had a disappointing outing, retiring on Lap 1 after colliding with Liam Lawson, which caused irreparable damage to his Alpine.
Round five of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship will head to Europe for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, scheduled for 16–19 May.

British F4 – Silverstone
Australian driver Jimmy Piszcyk continued his excellent form in the 2025 British F4 Championship by securing two victories from pole position at Silverstone, propelling himself to the top of the championship standings.
The 18-year-old showcased his speed during qualifying, clocking a time of 2:01.034 to claim pole.
Piszcyk had an outstanding start in the first race, leading the pack from the start. Despite two safety car interventions that bunched up the field, the Australian remained composed and secured a flawless victory, including the fastest lap.
In Race Two, starting from 12th due to the reversal of the top 12 qualifiers, he swiftly ascended four places within just two laps, executing a remarkable double overtaking move at Brooklands corner.
However, disaster struck when he was nudged wide by Chase Fernandez in the Village Loop, forcing him back to 15th. He recovered on a late restart to finish in 12th place.
Piszcyk returned to pole for the final race, where he established a solid lead before navigating a challenging incident 25 minutes in. Following a race restart, he maintained his pace and clinched his second win of the weekend.
Fellow young Australian Xavier Avramides also enjoyed a fruitful weekend at Silverstone, finishing Race One in 12th place but then advancing to 8th in both Races Two and Three, placing him third in the Rookie Cup standings.
The next round of the 2025 British F4 Championship will be held at Snetterton on 24–25 May.

McLaren Trophy – Brands Hatch
Jayden Kelly kicked off the 2025 McLaren Trophy Europe season at Brands Hatch with an impressive performance, converting two pole positions into wins in both races.
On Saturday, Kelly and teammate Michael O’Brien established themselves strongly, securing pole position and later clinching victory in the first race.
Starting Race Two from pole again, Kelly and O’Brien faced tough competition but ultimately managed to take the win despite receiving a 20-second penalty for an infraction during the pit entry/exit.
The duo’s effort to regain their pace and navigate through the field paid off, culminating in a deserving victory.
The 2025 McLaren Trophy Europe moves to Monza from 30 May to 1 June.
European Le Mans Series – Le Castellet
Australian racer James Allen, along with Sergio Sette Camara and Anthony Wells, secured the LMP2 Pro-Am victory at Le Castellet, finishing second overall.
Fellow Australian Garnet Patterson, racing for United Autosports alongside Michael Birch and Wayne Boyd, ended the race in 11th place in the LMGT3 category and 36th overall.
Unfortunately, LMP3 competitor Griffin Peebles and his WTM by Rindaldi Racing teammates had to retire due to a gearbox issue, resulting in a DNF.
Round three of the 2025 European Le Mans Series is scheduled for 4 May with the 4 Hours of Imola.
Le Mans Cup – Le Castellet
Griffin Peebles and teammate Steve Parrow made significant strides at Le Castellet.
Qualifying in 12th, Peebles improved to finish 9th in the LMP3 Pro-Am class and 20th overall.
In another LMP3 Pro-Am entry, Aussie duo Fraser Ross and George Nakas qualified 14th and maintained their position throughout the race, resulting in a 34th overall finish.
The next round of the 2025 Le Mans Cup will remain in France on 12 June for the Road to Le Mans.
Portuguese Rally Championship
Your Australian rally pairing of Taylor Gill and Daniel Brkic faced early retirement in the Portuguese Rally Championship due to a rollover incident during the event’s start.
The duo secured funding for this extra competition in their FIA Rally Star program as they prepare for the upcoming round of the FIA Junior World Rally Championship later this month in Portugal.
Gill and Brkic will return to Portugal for the WRC Vodafone Rally de Portugal event from 15-18 May.
Italian F4 – Misano
Dante Vinci claimed a podium spot in the Rookie Class at Misano during the opening round of the 2025 Italian F4 Championship, finishing in third.
Race One proved challenging for Vinci, who experienced a jump start and had to fight back from 14th to 8th, only to be penalised post-race and classified 12th overall.
In the third race, he crossed the line in 11th, concluding the weekend with a 16th-place finish in the final race.
Round two of the 2025 Italian F4 Championship is set for 25 May at Vallelunga.
IndyCar – Alabama
Will Power chalked up a solid score at the Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix.
In qualifying, Power secured a top-six position with a best time of 1:01.4576, starting the race from 4th.
He executed a steady race to finish 5th, adding 30 points to his championship tally.
The next round of the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES is scheduled for 9–10 May for the Sonsio Grand Prix in Indianapolis.
Indy NXT – Alabama
Lochie Hughes had a brilliant weekend in Alabama, finishing on the podium in third place and holding onto his second-place position in the drivers’ championship.
Fellow Australian Tommy Smith participated in the second round of the Indy NXT, qualifying sixth but finishing the race in 14th.
The next round of the 2025 Indy NXT Series takes place in Indianapolis from 9–10 May.
