Queensland legend Darren Lockyer anticipates that David Fifita will face some playful jibes from the Sydney Roosters this Friday night.
Fifita found himself at the centre of an unusual contract dilemma last year when he chose to snub a four-year deal with the Roosters, opting instead to remain with the Gold Coast Titans.
The Titans’ forward’s potential move to the Tricolours cast doubt over Angus Crichton’s position, but in the end, both players stuck with their respective teams.
While the contract controversy seemed to be resolved at the conclusion of last season, Lockyer believes Fifita will still be met with a chilly welcome.
“Without a doubt, there will be some sledging on the field,” Lockyer shared on Wide World of Sports’ QLDER.

The decision to retain Crichton has proven beneficial for the Roosters, as he has returned to the field displaying career-best form.
Starting the season, the Tricolours have experienced a rollercoaster of results, suffering a heavy loss to the Brisbane Broncos in their opening match.
However, Trent Robinson’s side made a strong comeback, pulling off an upset victory over four-time reigning champions, the Panthers, before narrowly losing to the Warriors the following week.
In light of their most recent defeat, Lockyer surmises that the Roosters will be a formidable opponent for the Titans visiting.
“Any team coming off a loss is generally more driven throughout the week to re-enter the winners’ circle,” he remarked.
“The Roosters faced intense criticism following their loss to the Broncos, and then they bounced back to beat Penrith. They’ll be tough to overcome at home; they always are. They will be primed and ready for the game.”
