Venezia broke their streak of three consecutive defeats in Serie A by securing a goalless draw against Lazio at Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo. However, a win for their relegation rivals Parma leaves the Winged Lions six points away from safety.
Having last tasted victory in the league back in December, Venezia welcomed Lazio to their ground knowing the significance of every point as they strive to avoid an immediate drop to the second division.
Despite the disparity in league standings, Venezia built a solid defensive foundation at the start of the match, restricting Lazio to only a few opportunities in the early phases. Gustav Isaksen was presented with the clearest chance, though his shot was directed straight at Ionuț Radu.
As the match unfolded, Lazio grew in confidence and appeared poised to score, but both Boulaye Dia and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru squandered good opportunities, sending their attempts off-target.
Before half-time, Dele-Bashiru was substituted due to injury, and although Venezia failed to register a single shot on target in the first half, they managed to maintain a clean sheet for the fourth consecutive game.

The second half commenced similarly to the first, with Isaksen presenting the initial clear chance as his long-range shot was expertly saved by Radu.
Marco Baroni’s team maintained the momentum, but their profligacy almost cost them when Venezia countered, with Mirko Marić’s low shot well saved by Christos Mandas.
Gaetano Oristanio then followed suit with an attempt from the edge of the box that also required a fine save from Mandas, as the hosts sought to snatch an improbable winner towards the end of the match.
While there are positives for Venezia in securing a draw, their solid defensive display was somewhat diminished by the positive outcome for their relegation-threatened rivals.
Venezia remains without a win in nine league matches, while Lazio will share in the disappointment as they failed to defeat Venezia for the first time since 2001, yet still managed to temporarily rise above Juventus into the top four.
