Dejan Kulusevski, the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, will miss Thursday’s Europa League round-of-16 clash against AZ Alkmaar due to injury. Manager Ange Postecoglou indicated on Wednesday that Kulusevski is unlikely to return before the international break at the end of the month.
The Swedish international, who has netted 10 goals this season, is dealing with a foot injury. He is expected to be unavailable for both legs of the knockout tie against Alkmaar, in addition to the Premier League fixtures against AFC Bournemouth and Fulham.
“Deki (Kulusevski) is the only player who hasn’t travelled. He has a knock on his foot and isn’t quite sure when it occurred, to be honest,” Postecoglou shared during a press conference.
“It’s been sore for the past few weeks. He managed to train and play, but it didn’t improve, prompting the need for further tests. We’re still waiting to determine the extent of the injury,” he added.
Ben Davies, Radu Dragusin, and Richarlison also remain out as the Europa League knockout stage gets underway.
In more positive news, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Dominic Solanke have all travelled to the Netherlands after overcoming their injuries, with the manager stating their availability will be assessed following training.
