Italian giants Juventus are reportedly on the verge of dismissing coach Thiago Motta, just shy of a year into his appointment, according to reports in the Italian media on Sunday.
Both the acclaimed sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport and Sky Sports have indicated that the 42-year-old will be replaced by former Juventus player Igor Tudor.
With Tudor taking the reins, his primary objective will be to secure fourth place in Serie A—the final spot for Champions League qualification, which is vital for the club’s precarious finances.
At present, Juventus find themselves in a disappointing fifth position in the league, with only nine matches remaining.

Reports suggest that an official announcement regarding Motta’s departure and Tudor’s appointment could come as early as Sunday.
When approached by AFP for comment, the club chose to remain tight-lipped.
Motta made waves upon his arrival at Juventus last July, following a stellar 2023-24 season at Bologna, but his subsequent results have led to a decrease in morale among fans and club officials alike.
During Motta’s tenure, Juventus has played 42 matches across all competitions, securing 18 victories, drawing 16 times, and suffering eight defeats.
Recently, the team faced elimination from both the Champions League and the Italian Cup last month, being knocked out by PSV Eindhoven and Empoli, respectively, despite having won the latter in 2024.
In his last two games, Juventus suffered a staggering 4-0 defeat to title contenders Atalanta—the club’s heaviest home loss since 1967—and a 3-0 loss at the hands of Fiorentina, currently placed eighth in the league.
