Aussie NBA sensation Josh Giddey created the most astonishing moment of his career during the closing seconds of Chicago’s victory over the Lakers.
With just 10 seconds remaining and the Lakers ahead 115-113, Giddey made a brilliant play, intercepting a pass from LeBron James just before his Bulls teammate, Cody White, sank a three-pointer.
The Bulls erupted in celebration only for Austin Reaves to respond with a quick layup, reclaiming the lead for the Lakers.
But with three seconds on the clock and no time-outs left, Giddey pulled off the remarkable, landing a shot from beyond half court to send the Chicago crowd into a frenzy and secure a 119-117 victory.
On the Bulls’ broadcast, commentator Stacey King was beside himself with excitement.
“Magic Giddey, g’day mate, somewhere in Australia, Sydney or Melbourne, Paul Hogan hanging out, Crocodile Dundee,” he exclaimed.
Giddey wrapped up the match with an impressive 25 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists. White contributed 26 points, while Kevin Huerter added 21, helping the Bulls clinch their ninth win in 11 games—this one undoubtedly their most thrilling.
It seemed the Lakers had secured the win, leading 115-110 after Austin Reaves converted two free throws with 13 seconds left. However, the Bulls had other plans.
With just over 10 seconds on the clock, Patrick Williams drained a three-pointer for Chicago, setting the stage for Giddey’s sensational steal and buzzer-beater.
Reaves topped the scoring for the Lakers with 30 points. Luka Doncic had a strong game with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists, Jaxson Hayes chipped in with 19, and James concluded the game with 17 points and 12 assists.
As CHSN attempted to interview Giddey post-game, teammate Julian Phillips seized the microphone, shouting, “Josh Giddey is a bad man, a bad man!”
Overjoyed, Giddey revealed that he had never hit a game-winner like that before.
“I’ve never done a walk-off half-court like that; I don’t know if I’ll get the chance again, but I’ll cherish this one tonight,” he remarked.
The Aussie also mentioned that he planned to watch the replay “all night long,” adding, “The win is better than anything; we really needed this in front of a packed crowd, so I’m thrilled with it.”
Lakers coach JJ Redick expressed his immediate reaction was one of “devastation” following the game.
“It’s an incredible way to lose a basketball game,” he stated during the post-match press conference.
