Carlton is anxiously awaiting an update on the fitness of high-profile midfielder Zac Williams, who exited the field with a limp during the second quarter of the Blues’ match against the Western Bulldogs on Friday night.
In the first quarter, Williams showcased one of his standout moments as a Blue, seizing the ball at centre-half back before racing through the centre square. He then executed a precise kick to an unmarked Charlie Curnow, who successfully converted a set shot from approximately 45 metres out and right in front of goal.
However, Williams was forced to leave the game late in the second quarter due to an issue with his left Achilles tendon. The injury occurred when he landed awkwardly while contesting a mark against Bulldogs defender Harvey Gallagher at Marvel Stadium.
Carlton confirmed that the 30-year-old was substituted due to Achilles soreness.
Prior to his substitution, he had recorded eight disposals before being replaced by defender Jordan Boyd.

During his tenure at GWS, Williams suffered a ruptured left Achilles tendon in January 2018 during a training session, which kept him out until the elimination final against the Swans.
He endured a similar setback at Carlton in 2022, tearing his left calf and missing 12 games as a result.
Additionally, he was sidelined for the entire 2023 season following an ACL rupture in the pre-season.
Williams made the switch from GWS to Carlton after the 2020 season, signing a six-year deal reportedly worth $800,000 per season.
