A former US Open champion is facing accusations of a locker room outburst, reportedly damaging multiple player lockers.
Wyndham Clark achieved an unexpected victory at the major tournament in 2023, held at the Los Angeles Country Club.
Prior to this win, his best result in a major had been a tie for 75th place.
Unfortunately, on Saturday, he failed to qualify for the weekend at the notoriously challenging Oakmont Country Club, finishing with a pair of 74s for a total of 8-over par.
Following his exit from the tournament, Clark opted not to speak with the media, as many of the world’s top players struggled to achieve low scores on the difficult course.
It was sometime after Clark completed his second round that a photo began circulating on social media.

The image depicts the doors of two player lockers at Oakmont severely damaged. The individual who shared the image claimed that Clark was responsible for the destruction, and since then, many others have echoed these allegations.
Over the last two days, various media outlets have attempted to obtain a response from Clark regarding these claims, but he has remained silent.
Earlier this year during the PGA Championship, Clark faced backlash and was required to issue a public apology.
During that event, in a moment of frustration, he threw his driver after a tee shot, causing it to crash into a sponsor sign behind the tee box.
His club narrowly missed striking a volunteer at the course.
The golfing community was quick to react, expressing outrage over Clark’s actions and calling for potential suspensions and fines.
While professional golfers sometimes incur fines for misconduct, these penalties are typically not disclosed, raising concerns about governance in the player-run sport.
At the time, Clark was also accused of publishing an apology that appeared to be generated by an AI service, ChatGPT.
In his social media statement following the PGA Championship, he wrote, “I would like to sincerely apologise for my behaviour yesterday on hole 16. My actions were uncalled for and completely inappropriate, highlighting that I have areas to improve on.” He added, “I promise to better manage my frustrations on the course in the future.”
