FC Copenhagen’s Rodrigo Huescas faces the possibility of 20 days in jail following an incident of reckless driving, as announced by the club on their official website.
The Mexican right-back was caught driving at 111 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on Kalvebod Brygge in central Copenhagen, an offence deemed reckless under the Danish Road Traffic Act.
This violation has led to the revocation of Rodrigo Huescas’s driver’s licence, and he may potentially face a prison term of up to 20 days.
“I have made an inexcusable error, and I sincerely apologise for my lack of judgement. I have failed to uphold my responsibilities as a role model, and I accept the repercussions of my actions. I feel very sorry and ashamed,” stated Rodrigo Huescas.
Huescas and FC Copenhagen are now awaiting the official decision regarding his punishment.
“It is completely unacceptable to disregard the law while endangering others with reckless behaviour. As a player at FC Copenhagen, you hold a significant responsibility to set a positive example and conduct yourself properly, and we have made this very clear to Rodrigo,” commented sports director Sune Smith-Nielsen.
Huescas, who has earned two caps for the Mexican national team, joined the previous Danish champions from Cruz Azul on a five-year contract in July 2024.
