Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze expressed his immense pride after netting his maiden goal for England last night.
Eze made history by becoming the first player from Palace in 49 years to score while wearing the England shirt, achieving this feat during their World Cup qualifying victory over Latvia.
“I always aim to have an impact on the game,” Eze remarked to ITV Sport following the match. “No matter how long I’m on the pitch, I want to make a difference.
“Today, it worked out for me, and I’m thrilled to have contributed with a goal as well.
“I just focused on creating space, trying to throw the defender off balance and get my shot away – and it succeeded today.”
Prior to Eze’s entry, Reece James had set the tone with a brilliant free-kick to open the scoring.
“You can see the quality he possesses. He’s more than capable of striking dead balls like that – it’s what we expect from a player of his calibre,” Eze added.
“It was a solid performance from us. We were fully aware of our objectives today. Winning was crucial, and that’s the most important aspect. I believe we executed well.”
