Manly veteran Jake Trbojevic has shared that he “took for granted” the experience of playing first grade alongside his brother during their early years together.
At 31, Jake was the first Trbojevic brother to break into the NRL, quickly joining forces with Tom on the field soon after his debut.
With younger brother Ben now part of the Sea Eagles squad, he secured a more regular position in the team under coach Anthony Seibold last season.
While Jake, the eldest of the Trbojevic trio, appreciates the magnitude of sharing the field with his younger siblings now, he admits that this understanding wasn’t always present.

“It’s very special,” Jake told Nine’s Marlee and Me.
“Tom and I were fortunate, playing together at a young age, and it’s something we perhaps took for granted at the time.
“Tom made his debut in my fifth game, and now with Ben in the mix, we truly understand what a special experience it is to play with your brothers.
“It motivates you to strive for excellence every week.”

Growing up on the Northern Beaches, fiercely supporting the Sea Eagles, it’s no surprise that all three Trbojevic brothers have become fan favourites.
On and off the field, Jake remains the leader of the group, yet he acknowledges that his younger siblings often help him stay “calm” amidst the weekly stresses of footy.

“You’re always their brother first, you care about them and want them to thrive,” he explained.
“I don’t think much has changed over the years. Footy can be quite stressful and there are times when they help me stay calm.
“It’s been a positive experience for us, bringing us closer together week by week. We witness one another’s ups and downs.
“We certainly don’t take this for granted anymore.”
Manly will commence their season against the Cowboys on Saturday night.
