Rugby sensation Charlotte Caslick has playfully reminded her former Aussie sevens teammate and upcoming Super Rugby Women’s grand final rival, Georgina Friedrichs, about her Queensland roots as the Waratahs prepare to clash with the Reds.
This highly anticipated final promises an exhilarating State of Origin-style matchup, following the Waratahs’ victory over the Western Force and the Reds’ triumph against Fijiana Drua.
Having played for the Reds and hailing from Queensland, Friedrichs made the switch to the Waratahs in 2020.
Leading into the grand final, Caslick couldn’t resist throwing a friendly jab at her former teammate.
“I guess it’s a bit tricky for ‘G-Fred’ since she’s a true Queenslander, so I have no idea how she does it when she runs out for NSW,” she chuckled during an appearance on Stan Sport’s Between Two Posts Extra.

When asked about the prospect of playing at North Sydney Oval before the Waratahs’ home crowd, Caslick’s response encapsulated the traditional Queensland underdog spirit.
“I’ve never played there. I’m really looking forward to heading down to Sydney. Honestly, I think all the pressure is on NSW,” she remarked.
“They’ve never lost to an Australian side, they’re the reigning champs, and the pressure falls on them. We’re simply going down to enjoy the experience and give it our best shot.”
Matt Burke found the humour in her comments.
“Spoken like a true Queenslander,” he chuckled.
The Waratahs head into the match aiming for their sixth title, while the Reds are seeking to overcome the disappointment of losing five finals since 2018.
Friedrichs acknowledged the weight of the occasion.

“Of course, as we continue our undefeated streak against Australian teams, the pressure only intensifies,” she stated.
“However, we see pressure as a privilege and look forward to embracing it and converting it into our performance.”
The Super Rugby Women’s final is set to take place on Saturday, April 12, kicking off at 2:35pm (AEST).
