With the international break now behind us, club football returns with a flourish, featuring numerous crucial match-ups throughout the weekend. At the same time, some of the world’s elite tennis stars are vying for glory as the Miami Open reaches its conclusion.
Here’s what our editors will be keeping an eye on this weekend:

Miami Open Finals
After an exhilarating couple of weeks in the women’s tournament, we are set for an electrifying final featuring top seed Aryna Sabalenka against world number four Jessica Pegula, a rematch of last year’s US Open final.
The Belarusian emerged victorious in that encounter, narrowly winning two fiercely contested sets. However, the American, who halted the impressive run of Alexandra Eala in the semi-finals, will be hopeful of pulling off an upset, having secured two victories against Sabalenka previously.
On the men’s side, we have reached the semi-final stage, with six-time Miami champion Novak Djokovic set to face 2024 finalist Grigor Dimitrov, while local favourite Taylor Fritz takes on the up-and-coming Jakub Mensik.
Both matches promise to be captivating, but Djokovic remains the frontrunner as the legendary Serbian aims for a historic 100th title on the ATP Tour.
Competition will be intense, with Fritz eager to claim his second Masters 1000 trophy, Dimitrov aiming to better his performance from last year’s final, and Mensik looking to nab his first title on Tour.

Besiktas vs Galatasaray – 18:30 CET
The title race in the Turkish Super Lig has reached a critical juncture, with two-time defending champions Galatasaray leading their arch-rivals Fenerbahce by nine points at the top of the table, albeit with a game in hand.
This Saturday, Galatasaray faces their toughest challenge of the season: an away match against fellow Istanbul rivals, Besiktas.
Under the management of Okan Buruk, Galatasaray remains unbeaten in the league so far, with an impressive tally of 22 wins and five draws from 27 matches. Nigerian sensation Victor Osimhen has been in scintillating form lately, netting nine goals in his last five appearances for club and country.
As such, they are on track for a historic season and hoping to secure their 25th Super Lig title.

Bersiktas has endured a tough season. The Turkish giants parted ways with manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst back in November, bringing in former Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as his replacement.
While the Norwegian made an impressive start, back-to-back poor performances have halted their momentum ahead of this crucial derby clash. They currently sit in fourth, a staggering 27 points behind Galatasaray.
However, in such encounters, form can often be irrelevant. Besiktas will be eager to return to winning ways in front of their home crowd, while Galatasaray aims to take a significant stride towards clinching their third consecutive league title.

PSV vs Ajax – 14:30 CET
We are approaching the stage of the season where top-of-the-table clashes can greatly impact title prospects, and this weekend’s De Topper is a prime example.
Ajax enters the match knowing that a victory would put them nine points clear at the summit of the Eredivisie with seven games remaining, most of which are against lesser opposition, effectively putting them in a commanding position for the title. Conversely, a win for PSV would reduce the gap to just three points, reigniting their championship ambitions.
Ajax is in significantly better form, having won nine and drawn one in their last ten league matches. In that same timeframe, PSV has secured only 12 points, winning just three of their last ten in all competitions.
Nonetheless, the reigning champions enjoy home advantage and have proven to be a formidable offensive force, boasting 23 more goals than their opponents this season. However, Francesco Farioli has Ajax well-organised defensively, with the leaders conceding only 20 times in 26 matches.
This match promises to deliver an exhilarating clash of styles and a fierce rivalry, with the title at stake. It’s sure to be a highlight.

Napoli vs AC Milan – 20:45 CET
Two giants of Serie A are set to clash this Sunday in a fixture of greater importance for the hosts than for the visitors. Napoli are firmly in the hunt for the title but trail their city rivals Inter by three points, making it imperative to avoid dropping any points this weekend.
With Inter facing Udinese earlier in the evening, Napoli could find themselves six points adrift of the leaders by the time they take the field. Antonio Conte will be demanding a crucial three points against an inconsistent AC Milan team under new coach Sergio Conceicao.
Yet, Napoli are also battling with their own form and have encountered a rough patch following a stellar first half of the season. The 2022/23 Scudetto champions have managed just one win in their last seven Serie A games, which includes a surprising defeat to newly promoted Como.
This challenging stretch has seen them face off against Inter, Lazio, and Fiorentina, with the loss to Como being their sole defeat in this tough period.
After their next two fixtures against AC Milan and Bologna, Napoli’s schedule appears to ease, but failure to secure wins in these matches might prove detrimental to their title aspirations.
Securing a win is crucial at this critical juncture in an exhilarating Serie A title race.

Betis vs Sevilla – 21:00 CET
If you’re after a riveting match in LaLiga this weekend, look no further than El Gran Derbi – the fierce rivalry between Andalusian city neighbours Sevilla and Real Betis.
Betis will host this Sunday evening showdown at the Estadio Benito Villamarín, and they are heading into the contest in outstanding form.
Managed by Manuel Pellegrini, Betis is enjoying a three-match winning run and an unbeaten streak of six matches across all competitions, with a remarkable five straight wins in the league, spurred on by the impressive duo of Isco and Antony.
This strong league performance has propelled Betis up the table over the past month and into contention for European qualification, currently sitting sixth. Their bitter rivals Sevilla, however, languish in 10th place, eight points further back but still in pursuit of the top six.
Sevilla managed to edge the first derby of the season with a 1-0 victory back in October, while last season saw both derbies end in draws. Despite their recent win over Betis, the visitors will know they are heading into a clash with one of Europe’s most in-form teams this weekend, setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
