The joy swiftly turned to distress for Fraser McReight as the Queensland Reds star sustained an injury while executing a stunning try against the NSW Waratahs on Saturday night.
Fresh from recommitting to Rugby Australia until 2028, McReight electrified the atmosphere at Suncorp Stadium in the second half, rounding off a brilliant team move.
The openside flanker fended off a tackle from former Reds teammate Lawson Creighton, then momentarily fooled Andrew Kellaway with the prospect of an inside pass before diving over the line himself.

However, the 26-year-old’s elation was short-lived as he grasped at the shoulder he awkwardly landed on.
McReight attempted to push through the discomfort but was eventually replaced.
“I think that was a wise decision from the coach; it probably came from (coach) Les Kiss,” Queensland legend Tim Horan remarked on Stan Sport.
“He went down on that shoulder while playing the ball and was seen clutching it.”
The exact nature and extent of McReight’s injury weren’t immediately known, but he was seen with his arm in a sling post-match.
Despite McReight’s absence, the Reds continued to perform superbly, overpowering the Waratahs with a convincing 35-15 victory.
