Take a look at the standout goals from the Ninja A-League 2024-25 season.
Melbourne City has secured a vital member of their Premiership-winning squad ahead of the upcoming Ninja A-League 2025-26 season, announcing that vice-captain Taylor Otto has signed a one-year extension.
Recognised as City’s Player of the Year at their end-of-season awards, the American defender has officially committed to another season with the club.
The 27-year-old was a cornerstone of the City defence last season, featuring in all 25 fixtures throughout a campaign that saw Michael Matricciani’s squad capture the Ninja A-League Premiership, finishing the regular season unbeaten.

“From the very first moment I entered the club, Melbourne City has felt like home,” Otto remarked after signing her new contract.
“Being part of such a special group fills me with immense pride for all that we’ve accomplished over the past couple of years.
“There’s still plenty more to achieve, and I’m excited to get back to work and do everything I can to help bring more silverware to the Club next season.”
Esteemed as one of the top central defenders in the Ninja A-League, Otto has shown remarkable growth during her time with Melbourne City, forming a solid partnership with club captain Rebekah Stott.

Additionally, Otto was instrumental in guiding her team to the final of the inaugural AFC Women’s Champions League, where City narrowly succumbed to Wuhan Jiangda in a penalty shootout.
“Taylor has been an incredibly important player for our Women’s squad since arriving at the Club,” stated Melbourne City’s Director of Football, Michael Petrillo.

“Her performance in defence and her leadership—both on and off the pitch—have been crucial to our achievements over the past two years.
Petrillo added: “A deserving Player of the Year, we’re delighted to have her back for another season.”
In other news, City has announced that two players from last season’s victorious Premiership squad will be moving on.
Third-string goalkeeper Sophia Varley and Canadian forward Kathryn Harvey will depart the Club upon the conclusion of their respective contracts.
Varley, 21, leaves having made only one senior appearance for City, whilst Harvey bids farewell after netting three goals in 15 matches for Matricciani’s squad.
