Wolfsburg’s winless streak in the Bundesliga has now stretched to nine matches following a 2-2 draw against a struggling Hoffenheim at the Volkswagen Arena.
This final fixture of the Bundesliga season on Friday night was crucial for both teams, albeit for different reasons. Wolfsburg had recently dismissed manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, while Hoffenheim sought a result to secure their survival in the league.
It took just 18 seconds for the home side to make an impact, as a cross from Mohamed Amoura was inadvertently turned into his own net by Leo Ostigard, giving the Wolves a dream start.
Despite this early setback, Hoffenheim showed remarkable resilience and nearly equalised when Bazoumana Toure’s deflected strike from 25 yards, destined for the top corner, was brilliantly saved by Kamil Grabara.
However, after executing that fine save, Grabara was powerless to stop Pavel Kadeřábek’s fierce volley from Marius Bulter’s cross, which flew into the net, levelling the score for Hoffenheim just 11 minutes before half-time.

Wolfsburg had previously won both encounters with Hoffenheim this season, but it was the visitors who appeared more determined to take the lead, with Tom Bischof’s long-range strike narrowly missing the target shortly after the second half began.
Only the bottom two teams in the league, Holstein Kiel and Bochum, had fewer away points than Hoffenheim’s tally of 14, yet they kept pressing for a potential winner, with attempts from Anton Stach and Bülter both coming close.
The match seemed destined to end in a stalemate, but in a dramatic finale, Jonas Wind thought he had clinched the victory for Wolfsburg with a header from a corner, marking his first goal since January. However, Bulter responded brilliantly, scoring from an acute angle to earn Hoffenheim a much-needed point that should see them safe in the Bundesliga, barring an unlikely turnaround in goal difference over the last two games. Wolfsburg remains in 12th place as their season continues to falter.
