Frustrated Carlton fans have taken to the streets to vent their anger and call for significant changes following the team’s disastrous start to the season, with an unfortunate 0-3 record.
Graffiti expressing discontent has begun to crop up across Melbourne’s northern suburbs after the Blues suffered a shocking defeat to a rookie-laden Richmond side, only to be subsequently outplayed by Hawthorn.
As they continue their search for a first victory, Carlton finds themselves positioned precariously, potentially ending the round as low as 17th on the AFL ladder.

In their match on Friday night, the Blues held the lead against the Bulldogs at every change — boasting a 23-point advantage at quarter-time and an 18-point lead at half-time — but faltered in the final stages, resulting in a heartbreaking defeat of 12.11 (83) to 11.9 (75).
Carlton didn’t trail until the 12-minute mark of the last quarter, yet the Bulldogs rallied dramatically to inflict more pain on the Blues at Marvel Stadium.
In recent seasons, the Blues have struggled to halt their opponents’ momentum. This issue was starkly highlighted when they relinquished a 41-point lead to the Tigers and an 11-point advantage over the Hawks, ultimately suffering defeats by 13 and 20 points respectively.
As fans grew more agitated, messages reading ‘Sack Voss’ began to appear on walls throughout the inner suburbs.
Channel 7 reporter Xander McGuire first drew attention to the ‘Sack Voss’ graffiti, stating, “It felt like the jungle drums were beating already leading into this game. There was fresh graffiti all over Carlton saying, ‘Sack Voss’, and the fans were vandalising Dundas Street in Melbourne’s northern suburbs,” he reported after the match.
Richmond legend Matthew Richardson and former Collingwood and Carlton star Dale Thomas both condemned this behaviour.
“That’s simply unacceptable,” Richardson remarked.
Thomas added, “It’s appalling and should not be occurring, but Blues supporters are understandably growing impatient.”
Despite starting the 2025 campaign with a sense of optimism, Voss now finds himself under increasing pressure.
After the match, Voss indicated the team would focus on refining its strategies rather than enacting sweeping changes.

“In the context of the season, we are only just starting,” he told reporters.
“There is ample time ahead, but we also acknowledge the feedback indicating we need improvement. There are certain aspects of our game that need urgent attention.
“When you observe us play and note the positive moments, it’s worth our persistence. My message will be straightforward: we need to clarify our roles, continue with our style of play, and in crucial moments, we must maintain our composure, which we will continue to coach.”
The last time Carlton celebrated a victory was in round 23 last year when they triumphed over a struggling Eagles side by 65 points at Optus Stadium.
With a six-day break ahead, the Blues will next face their long-standing rivals, Collingwood, in a highly anticipated clash at the MCG on Thursday night.
