Jessica Pegula from the USA has been commended by her fellow competitors for a generous gesture that spared four players from an exhausting overnight journey between tournaments.
Pegula, the billionaire’s daughter, secured her seventh career singles title by triumphing over fifth seed McCartney Kessler in straight sets during the ATX Open final held in Austin.
As the 31-year-old and Kessler faced a tight schedule to attend the first round of Indian Wells, Pegula graciously offered Kessler a seat on her private jet.
The flight transported them directly from the singles final in Texas to California, helping them arrive in time for the opening of the WTA 1000 tournament.
Pegula’s kindness extended beyond Kessler, as she patiently waited for the doubles final to conclude, ensuring that all players had a guaranteed ride to their upcoming tournament.

On Monday (AEDT), Zhang Shuai, Yuan Yue, and Anna Blinkova joined Kessler and Pegula on the private flight to California.
If they hadn’t accepted Pegula’s invitation, the four players would have had to make layovers in Dallas or Houston before reaching California.
“She could have left immediately after her singles final, but she is incredibly selfless and generous,” Zhang expressed on Instagram.
“This isn’t just about me taking the jet; I want to show my appreciation and spread the love.”
Yue and Blinkova echoed Zhang’s sentiments, sharing her post and also thanking Pegula’s parents, who are owners of the NFL’s Buffalo Bills and NHL’s Buffalo Sabres.
Pegula took a moment to respond to Zhang’s message, saying, “You’re too adorable.”
This generous gesture now allows Blinkova and Kessler extra time to ready themselves for their first-round matches on the opening day of the competition.
Pegula, seeded fourth in the event, will begin her campaign on Saturday, March 8, benefiting from a bye in the first round due to her seeding.
