Argentine midfielder Claudio Echeverri has officially joined Manchester City and will be available for selection for the remainder of the season, the Premier League club announced on Thursday.
Echeverri signed with City from River Plate in January of last year but remained on loan at the Argentine side until last month. He arrives in Manchester after captaining his national team during the Under-20 South American Championship.
The 19-year-old netted six goals in nine appearances, helping Argentina reach the final, where they were defeated by Paraguay earlier this month. Echeverri, who has penned a deal that runs until June 2028, has made a total of 48 appearances for River Plate, scoring four goals.
“I can’t express how thrilled I am to be in Manchester and to finally be able to call myself a Manchester City player,” Echeverri said in a statement released by the club.
Currently sitting fourth in the Premier League, Manchester City have an FA Cup clash this weekend, facing Plymouth Argyle in the fifth round on Saturday.
